About Us

WBJDF as an organisation and more about us

The West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front (WBJDF) is a representative body of junior doctors working in government medical institutions across West Bengal. It was founded to play a pivotal role in the fight for justice for Abhaya — a powerful and widely respected demand that reflects the collective conscience of the medical community. It is also involved in advocating for better working conditions, medical infrastructure, and the safety of healthcare workers.

Overview

The West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front (WBJDF) was born out of the fight for justice for Abhaya, our colleague who was tragically murdered while on duty. Her loss became a turning point — it sparked a collective resolve among junior doctors to stand together. The fight for justice for Abhaya continues, driving us with a shared purpose and a stronger voice. With representation from every medical college, WBJDF continues to raise critical issues faced by junior doctors — from poor infrastructure and compromised patient care to the lack of safety in state-run hospitals. We stand for accountability, reform, and a system where every doctor is heard and protected.
